Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains the information handled when you use Seekalo, the services that help run the guide, and how to contact us about privacy.

Information handled by Seekalo

Seekalo is a neighborhood guide to businesses in Kirkland, Washington. You can browse the public directory without creating an account.

  • Directory information. We store and publish business names, addresses, contact details, website links, location coordinates, highlights, and photographs. These are listing details, not a record of your personal location.
  • Visits and technical information. Analytics and service providers may process pages and URLs visited, referral information, browser and device details, IP addresses, and approximate location derived from technical information. Website and API logs help us operate the site and diagnose errors.
  • Owner accounts and uploads. Authentication is provided by Clerk. It handles information used to create and access an account, such as an email address and authentication or session information. Seekalo records authenticated account identifiers in connection with photo uploads, along with uploaded images, captions, alternative text, and related management records. Published listing photographs and captions are visible to visitors.
  • Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments. Our contact address uses Gmail. We use this information to respond to your inquiry or request.

Google Analytics

If you allow Analytics in our privacy choices, Seekalo loads Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the guide and to improve it. It does not load before you allow it, or when Analytics is off. Our page-view measurement includes the pages and URLs visited. Google Analytics may use cookies and similar technologies and process technical and usage information, such as browser and device details, referral information, and approximate location. We disable Google signals and advertising-personalization signals in our Analytics tag; Analytics permission does not grant advertising permission.

See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy. Google also provides a browser add-on for opting out of Google Analytics for supported browsers.

Google AdSense and advertising

Seekalo loads Google AdSense only if you allow Advertising in our privacy choices and your browser is not sending Global Privacy Control. When Advertising is off, we do not load the AdSense tag, rather than requesting non-personalized ads. Allowing Advertising does not mean an advertisement will appear on every visit.

Google’s published European regulations message provides separate regional consent controls through its Google-certified consent management platform and the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). Where applicable, those controls govern Google’s ad serving in addition to Seekalo’s choices. Our site-level choices do not replace that platform or generate TCF consent. When available after Advertising loads, our settings also provide a way to reopen Google’s European consent message.

When ads are served, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this website or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies can enable Google and its partners to serve personalized ads based on visits to this and other sites. Advertising services may also process device information, identifiers, and interactions with advertisements.

You can manage personalized Google advertising through My Ad Center. You can also visit AboutAds choices to learn about opting out of personalized advertising from participating vendors. These options do not necessarily stop all data collection or prevent non-personalized ads.

Cookies and your choices

Cookies and similar technologies can support analytics, advertising, and secure account sign-in. Clerk uses authentication and session technologies on account and owner-management pages. Browsing the public guide does not require signing in.

Optional Analytics and Advertising are off until you allow them. Use here or beside our Privacy Policy links to allow or reject services separately and revisit your choices. Turning Advertising off opts out of advertising-related sale, sharing, and targeted advertising through Seekalo’s AdSense integration. We honor Global Privacy Control by keeping Advertising off, even if you previously allowed it.

We store your choices and their date in this browser’s local storage. Choices allowing Advertising last up to 180 days; choices keeping Advertising off last up to 400 days so we do not ask for advertising permission again within a year. After expiry we ask again with optional services off. A Global Privacy Control opt-out is saved where browser storage is available, so Advertising stays off even if you later turn the signal off. Choices do not apply to other browsers or devices. If a new choice cannot be saved, new permissions apply only to the current page; an earlier saved choice may remain. Failed withdrawals use the safety fallbacks below rather than restoring an old permission. Clearing site storage also resets your choices.

Withdrawing permission for a loaded service reloads the page to stop its running code. This may reset an unsaved morning plan. We remove accessible first-party Google Analytics and advertising cookies on Seekalo, but cannot delete third-party cookies on other domains, undo information already sent, or remove providers’ existing records. Essential sign-in cookies are not removed.

If saving a withdrawal to local storage fails, we keep optional services off using an essential privacy-preference cookie or a tab-level session-storage record. If neither can be saved, a privacy-off marker in the current URL prevents an old permission from being restored on reload. These fallbacks never grant permission, and a successfully saved new choice clears them. A first-time Global Privacy Control visit saves an advertising opt-out without granting Analytics permission.

You can also use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies may affect sign-in or other features. Google’s advertising settings and analytics opt-out tools are additional provider-specific choices; they do not control every service used by this site. Visiting the site is not consent, and Google certification is not a guarantee of compliance with every applicable privacy law.

Maps, fonts, and external links

Our maps show business locations. Some map images are hosted by Seekalo, while others load from Esri’s ArcGIS services or OpenStreetMap. Loading external map images sends network information, such as your IP address, to the provider and may include browser or referral information. See Esri’s Privacy Statement and the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.

We load fonts using Google Fonts. Requests for those fonts are sent to Google’s servers and include technical network information. See Google Fonts privacy information.

Business website links and Google Maps links take you to external services. If you open a route in Google Maps, the link includes your selected business stops and addresses. Those services handle information under their own privacy policies. Seekalo does not request your device’s GPS location.

Your morning plan

The stops you select and their order are kept temporarily in the current page. Seekalo does not save your morning plan to an account, its database, or browser local storage. Reloading or leaving the page can reset the plan.

The sharing action copies the plan’s text to your clipboard when your browser permits it, or displays the text for you to copy. It does not automatically send the plan to Seekalo or another person. Opening directions in Google Maps is a separate action described above.

How information is used and stored

We use information to provide the directory and its maps, operate authorized owner photo management, understand site usage, support advertising, respond to inquiries, and maintain the site’s reliability and security.

Seekalo uses Replit for hosting, a managed PostgreSQL database for directory and photo-management records, and App Storage for uploaded images. These providers process information needed to provide their services. Google, Clerk, and map providers also process information as described in this policy. See Replit’s Privacy Policy and Clerk’s Privacy Policy.

Directory records and published photographs remain stored until updated or removed. Retention of account, analytics, advertising, and operational information depends on the purpose of the information, service-provider settings and policies, and applicable legal or security requirements. Removal from the public site does not necessarily immediately remove every backup, log, or provider-held record.

Owner photo management requires authentication and authorization. Photo processing removes embedded image metadata from the generated images displayed on the site. No method of internet transmission or storage is completely secure. Service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

Privacy questions and requests

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, or to object to or limit certain processing.

To ask a privacy question or make a request, email westernethossolutions@gmail.com. Include enough information for us to understand your request, but do not send passwords or other account credentials. We may need to verify your identity before handling an account-related request.

Requests about information held independently by Google, an external business website, or another provider may need to be made directly to that provider. The provider links above explain their practices and available choices.

Updates to this policy

We may update this policy as Seekalo’s services or data practices change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
